Do you have enough time? Do you feel like there just isn’t enough hours in a day, or enough days in the week to get everything done? Trust me. You’re not alone. The reality, however, is that even if you did have more time it would not guarantee a better or more productive day or week. But, THERE IS AN ANSWER.
Ephesians 3:14-19 says, “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
Let me share with you a few things that Paul knew would happen when he spent time with God.
1) Spending time with God made him STRONGER.
Verse 16 says, “…to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man…“
In Christ, we have been given access to His strength, but the only way that His strength can be accessed by His children is when they choose to spend time in His presence. You’re not strong enough, but He is. Learn to rely on His strength.
2) Spending time with God made him STABLE.
Verse 17 says, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith…“
For most, when we feel overwhelmed or under-prepared, our natural response is to panic, to worry, or to fear. But, when we spend time in God’s presence, He brings our emotions back under control which then enables us to make clear, consistent, and careful choices that meets our need and pleases our Father.
3) Spending time with God made him SWEETER.
Verse 17 says, “…being rooted and grounded in love…”
God is love and, when I spend time with Him, I will find myself becoming more like Him. As a representative of God, compassion and tenderness will become a natural part of who I am.
4) Spending time with God made him SMARTER.
Verses 18 and 19 say, “…may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge…”
With all that Paul had to do, he found that taking the time to spend in God’s presence actually provided him with greater clarity and comprehension. The simple reality is that many of the things that we are going to face are beyond our understanding, but nothing we will ever face will beyond God’s understanding. Spend time with Him and allow His wisdom to make your purpose and your path abundantly clear.
As you go through your day today, No matter how busy, stressed, or overwhelmed you may feel, choose to SPEND TIME WITH GOD. It truly will make a difference. He knows exactly what you need and He stands ready to enable you to do amazing things for Him.
