When a car is Driven, a destination is chosen, or a purpose is determined, and then it is steered in the proper direction in order to reach that destination or to fulfill that purpose. In order to get to that destination you have to know your current location. From there, it will require planning, fueling, and obedience to the directions so that you arrive safely and timely at your destination. In our Driven youth ministry, we seek to do just that: help a young person find out where they are, show them were they need to head (Christ-likeness), and then through the fueling up of the Word of God, we show them the directions that they need to obey in order to arrive safely at their destination.
What does DRIVEN stand for?
That's an excellent question. DRIVEN is an acronym that explains what we desire our youth group and our young people to be. Each of these can be found in our key verse, 2 Timothy 1:12-14 which says, "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us."
At Joy, we desire for our young adults to be:
- NOT ASHAMED
